E-Structors Pledged to the e-Stewards Recycling Standards

E-Structors, Inc. is now pledged to the e-Stewards standard certification for Responsible Recycling and Reuse of Electronic Equipment from the Basel Action Network.
The e-Stewards Recycling pledge adds to E-Structors current list of environmental protection certifications, by expanding upon the EPA endorsed ISO 14001:2004 certification. The E-Stewards pledge requires that electronic recycling companies:

    • Already received their ISO 14001:2004 certification.
    • Prohibit toxic waste from being disposed of in solid waste landfills or incinerators.
    • Require complete compliance with all existing hazardous waste treaties for exports and imports of electronics, and prohibit the export of hazardous waste from developed to developing countries.
    • Prohibit prison labor from recycling toxic electronics, which often contain sensitive data embedded on them.
    • Require extensive tracking and monitoring of recycling workers in all countries to ensure worker safety from toxic substances.

The e-Stewards standard improves upon the ISO 14001:2004 certification by taking greater steps to minimize the impact that End of Life Electronics have on the environment. E-Structors, Inc. is proud to support their goals and standards.
